My First Custom Orders!

I've been so pleased for the past few weeks to have been commissioned to do two paintings.  One was a small ACEO sized watercolour painting for a lovely repeat customer and the other one was from the same customer who was commissioning it for another person who I also know.  It was fun collaborating with her to come up with a painting that we both thought she would love.

Here is the ACEO, which was based on another one I sold to her before:

This is the one it is based upon:

This is the larger painting which was sent to Akua who owns and runs The Sheabutter Cottage where I buy really high quality, fair trade shea butter from on a regular basis:

I'm pleased to say that she loved it and to have such happy customers has really boosted my confidence and I'm no longer as apprehensive about custom orders as I once was.

In fact, I'm working on another one right now for the same customer!

20% Off Sale on Handmade Bookmarks

Hiya,

I'm having a 20% off sale on all the bookmarks in my Coriandr shop!  Most of them are painted by hand in watercolours and illustrated using archival black ink that doesn't fade.  They are bright and fun and looking for a new home so that I can make room for some new ideas I have for bookmarks and other products which are coming soon.

Here is a selection:

Thank you!

Latest Watercolour Paintings

Here are my latest original watercolour paintings:

I've been really lucky and sold a couple of them already!

The first I just listed on Etsy last night, the second one sold this month, the third is still available, the fourth sold last month and the last one is not for sale because my other half wanted it for his den.

Here is the link to my Etsy shop if you would like to have a look at some of my other paintings.

Watercolour Painting in Progress

Here is my latest work in progress.  The idea behind this one is that I rarely see African American women portrayed as fairies or in fantasy settings in art so I decided to create some of this type of art myself.  Here it is at the beginning stage which I think I posted a pic of before:

And this is what it looks like now:

As you can see I've added a couple of larger flowers beside her and added a bit more interest to the background and added some branches to the tree.  I'm intending to add some more flowers to her dress but I don't think they will be so close together all the way down.

I hope this painting turns out ok. I'm a little nervous!!

Watercolour Works in Progress Plus New Listings

Here are a few pics of the things I'm currently working on:

These are two watercolour ACEOs that I started last night and am trying to finish today whilst the baby sleeps.  The ideas for these ACEOs came about because ever since listing a watercolour greeting card in my misi shop, I've become fascinated with the character of a blue bird.  I don't really know why but when you get little inklings like this, you have to follow them don't you? I'm not sure where to list them yet since I have shops on etsy, misi, folksy and coriandr but like TomatoTea, I should really consider choosing one or two shops and just concentrate on those, shouldn't I?  This is the original greeting card:

I'm also working on these watecolour paintings:

I've also been listing some bookmarks, gift tags and mini envelopes on Coriandr:

Aren't they cute and lovely? Well I think so!!!  The pink hearts on the bookmarks and gift tags were created using a paper punch and clean Quality Street sweet wrappers and I like the fact that I've upcycled something to create something else that useful.

So these are the things keeping me busy right now and I'm really enjoying myself.  Look out for a post about Lynne and her PiratePixieCrew shop on Coriandr coming up later today.
