New Blog Giveaway Winner

Hello!

I've had to choose another giveaway winner since the first one, Pam, hasn't replied to my emails.  I only hope that she is ok wherever she is.  I had such an excellent response to my first giveaway and thought that one of the other people who entered should have a chance of winning, so I used Random.org again to help me choose.

So the new winner of my giveaway is Claire!  Congratulations Claire!  I'll send you an email to officially announce you as the winner and (hopefully!) you'll mail me back letting me know your snail mail details and your prize will be on its way to you soon.

Thanks again to all of those who entered and as a reminder, here are some photos of the mini envelopes and notes that Claire has won:

Creativesque's Blog Giveaway Winner

Hi everyone! I'm sure you have all been waiting with bated breath for this announcement so without further delay here are the results of the giveaway using Random.org's generator:

A big congratulations to:

Pam

who said she might use the giveaway prize to write to her granddaughter whose favourite colour is pink.  Well done Pam and I hope your granddaughter enjoys receiving your notes to her!

If you're wondering about why I entered 10 rather than 11 for the number of comments, it's because I contacted one of the commenters to ask whether she really wanted to enter the giveaway (since she didn't follow the requested format) and she said that she was just leaving a general comment about the set and wasn't actually entering the giveaway.  A very nice comment too! So I didn't include her in the giveaway and so the fourth entrant turned out to be Pam.  I'll be contacting you soon, Pam, for your snail mail details.

Thanks to all of you who entered my very first giveaway here at Creativesque and for all of those wonderful suggestions about how to use this mini stationery set.

I will definitely be doing more giveaways as this one was so much fun!

My First Blog Giveaway

Ok I'm a little bit nervous about this for obvious reasons like, 'no one will enter my giveaway because they'll think the freebie is rubbish' or 'they'll be disappointed when they actually receive it' etc., etc. but I'm going to do like I've done with a lot of things lately and just feel the fear and do it anyway!

So in the spirit of keeping the world going around nicely by giving and receiving, I'd like to offer something for free on my blog especially since I just won a giveaway myself.

Here is what's on offer:

These are a set of 5 mini envelopes complete with five co-ordinating note papers.  The envelopes have been punched out from cream cardstock, folded and glued by hand.  The front of the envelopes are collaged with two tiny hearts each, one of which is a bit glittery. The other heart is from the same paper as the tiny notepapers which each fit nicely into the envelopes.  The envelopes measure about 3.4cm x 3.5cm and the notepapers are a bit smaller to fit inside.

If you would like a chance of winning this set, please leave a comment letting me know how you think you may use them if you won.   I will pick a winner randomly on the 31st July and then contact them for their snail mail details.  So good luck to all of you who enter and be sure to check back to see if you won. Thanks!

Making Handmade Books

I've been making some small books and experimenting with different binding techniques.  My favourite so far is the Japanese Stab Binding technique but I didn't bother to measure accurately or cut straight lines because I wanted to get on and just try it or else I'd worry about trying to get it perfect and end up not doing it at all! The next few tries I will be measuring and cutting properly and making it look pretty with decorative paper.  Here are some pictures of my first attempt at Japanese stab binding:

I upcycled some cardboard from t-shirt inserts for the cover, inside is some scrap printer paper and I sewed it together using some silky cord which I had to separate into strands because it was too thick to go through the holes. I would like to try coptic binding next but all the tutorials I've seen look so complicated.

Here are some doodles I did on the covers of the book and they show the sort of things I'll probably be filling the pages with!

Mini Handmade Book

I've blogged about this book before when I'd just made it but I wanted to show you all how I'm currently using it.

I've been doodling ideas and also using it for my shopping lists.  I've even sent hubby to the supermarket with it but I think he kept it in his wallet so no one could see! I like using it because I can easily find the bright blue colour in my handbag which is better than those pieces of paper that I used to lose and it is also a great way to do some quick idea sketches whilst standing in a line somewhere.  I love the fact that the pages are made from an old envelope too!

I'm planning to make some more soon since this one doesn't have too many pages.
